Jeff Knapp "the EV chap"
About Jeff
Jeff has owned and driven EVs since 2017, and has studied the EV space thoroughly. He is a respected guest lecturer on EVs at Queen’s University, and is one of a handful of trusted presenters who have manned the Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) EV trade show booth. He also teaches the public about EVs for the Electric Vehicle Council of Ottawa.
Jeff taught high school in Ottawa for many years before his passion for environmental stewardship compelled him to join NRCan to promote clean energy, which he has been doing for over 20 years. At NRCan, Jeff has made many renewable energy presentations to Canadian institutional, commercial and industrial players teaching them about the value to them of adopting renewable energy.
Jeff’s university degrees provided him with a solid foundation in chasing excellence and in effectively communicating complex concepts, which he brings to his teaching in the field of electric vehicles.
Background
Jeff walks the talk and to that end, he has undertaken many hands-on projects, including:
- converting his family to EVs;
- designing and acting as general contractor for, the construction of his own R-2000, solar-optimized home;
- running a solar thermal installation company; and
- designing, building, and operating a biodiesel micro-refinery to produce biodiesel fuel for his family vehicles before he became enlightened and went electric!
Jeff was the founder and President of Stonecrest Energy’s precursor, “The Stonecrest Institute for Energy Efficiency”, an environmental think-tank that facilitated educational seminars on EVs and other renewable technologies with corporations and other organizations involved in renewable energy.
This interdisciplinary background serves as the bedrock for Jeff’s understanding of electric vehicle technology, and his entertaining teaching style.

Alison brings a background in education, administration, leadership, and communications to Stonecrest Energy Consulting.
Most recently, Alison worked as a dedicated educator. with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. Her years in the classroom honed her ability to convey complex ideas in a clear, engaging manner. They taught her the value of patience, adaptability, and communication. These qualities have become the bedrock of her professional life.
Her background in communications helps her to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of knowledge sharing. Effective communication is at the core of her professional journey.
She is a self-proclaimed EV convert, and an enthusiastic steward of the planet. She strives to make every aspect of her life more eco-friendly, from growing and cooking her own food to stocking her home with zero-waste products, Alison delights in sharing her knowledge of a more sustainable lifestyle.
